Body
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom web browser designed to secure the testing environment within Blackboard. If your instructor enables LockDown Browser for an exam, you will not be able to take that exam using standard browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.
🔒 What LockDown Browser Does
When taking an exam in LockDown Browser, the system:
-
Disables copy/paste, screen capture, and print functions
-
Prevents access to other applications and websites
-
Restricts navigation away from the test screen until submission
🧑💻 How to Take a Respondus Exam in Blackboard
If your instructor is using Respondus:
-
You must launch Blackboard through the Respondus LockDown Browser to access the exam.
-
If you try to take the exam in a standard browser, you’ll see a passcode error message—even if no passcode was set.
