If someone reports their video feed will not display or no one can hear them in a virtual meeting, please check the following:
- The video or audio may be on mute. Please verify.
- Confirm the correct camera/sound options are chosen (this could be Teams or Zoom settings, or system-wide configuration).
- Ask the user if they are using Windows Virtual Desktop to access the meeting (Windows Virtual Desktop does not not have a camera or microphone, so the user will be able to hear the meeting and type to the meeting chat, but nothing else). To resolve, the user must leave the meeting and rejoin through the primary computer.
- Many desktop computers do not have built-in cameras or microphones. The user can check their sound settings to determine if that is true for their system. A different device or webcam will need to be used if camera and/or microphone are needed.
- Not all computers have speakers. A headset or external speaker may be required.
- Some laptops have a camera lens cover for privacy/security. If the camera is displaying only a dark image, the lens cover may be closed. There should be a small sliding switch next to the camera's lens to open or close the cover.
- The computer may need to be restarted in order to apply updates before audio or video function as expected.
