Teams: Call Transfer

Summary

Transferring a call in Microsoft Teams.

Body

Once a Teams user is on a phone call they may need to transfer the call to another member of the BSU Community.  The most common instructions you will need to provide is the "Standard Transfer".

Standard Transfer

1.  In the top right of the screen that displays the connected call you will see three dots that the user can click to be present multiple options.  They can click the "Transfer" button.

2.  The user will be displayed the following screen.

3.  In the search field the end user can perform one of the following:

A.  Search for another employees name

B.  Type in the 4 digit extension of another employee.

C.  Type in a 10 or 11 digit phone number of an external party

4.  In any of the above scenarios the user must select an option (even if there is only one option to choose from) before the transfer button goes from "grayed out" to being selectable.  In the below example I had searched for "1000".  The screen below is what the end user screen will look like once they have selected an option.

5.  The end user will see "Transferring" until the call has been answered.  This screen will automatically go away once the call has been successfully transferred.

Consult then Transfer

This allows the end user to speak with the person who is going to receive the call prior to the transfer happening.

4.  In any of the above scenarios the user must select an option (even if there is only one option to choose from) before the "consult" button becomes available.  In the below example I had searched for "1000".  The screen below is what the end user screen will look like once they have selected an option.

5.  The original call will be put on hold automatically.  A new call window will appear.  Once the end user is done consulting with who will receive the call, then end user will need to select "Transfer" which can be found in the top right of the new call window.
