FACULTY: What do I do if my course says it is "complete" and I can't edit?

Summary

Blackboard allows you to "complete" a course, leaving it open for students but no longer allowing any submissions or editing.

Body

In Blackboard, marking a course as "Complete" keeps it accessible to students but prevents further submissions and editing by instructors.

How to Identify and Change the Course Status

  1. On the main Blackboard Courses page, locate your course.

  2. Click the ellipsis (⋯) in the course banner.

  3. If the course is marked Complete, editing will be disabled.

  4. To enable editing, click the ellipsis again and select "Open Course".

This will restore your ability to modify content, accept submissions, and make updates as needed.
