Not interested in Blackboard Messages? Change your Settings

If you'd prefer students contact you via BSU email rather than Blackboard “Messages,” you can easily change the settings for this feature in your course sites. Here’s how:

  1. Log into your Blackboard course site.
  2. Click “Course Settings” in the upper right.
  3. Leave the green checkmark next to “Allow course messages”
  4. Check the radio button next to "Students can only reply to messages"

With these changes, you can send messages to students, but they can only respond to your messages. Students cannot initiate messages in the course. You can also send a copy of course announcements via email.
