This article explains how students can install and use Respondus LockDown Browser on a Chromebook for taking online exams in Blackboard.
What is Respondus LockDown Browser?
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom web browser that restricts copy/paste, screen capture, printing, and visiting other websites during an online exam.
Chromebook Compatibility

Respondus LockDown Browser is compatible with Chromebooks.

It must be installed via the Chrome Web Store (not like a traditional Windows/Mac download).

Some advanced features (like Respondus Monitor with webcam proctoring) may have limited functionality depending on your device.
Installing LockDown Browser on a Chromebook

Open the Chrome Web Store on your Chromebook.

Search for Respondus LockDown Browser.

Click Add to Chrome.

Confirm by selecting Add Extension.
Taking an Exam with Respondus on a Chromebook

Log into your Blackboard course.

Navigate to the test/exam that requires Respondus.

When you click Begin, you will be prompted to open it in LockDown Browser.

The browser will automatically launch and secure your environment for the exam.
Notes & Tips

You must use Respondus LockDown Browser to access the exam — regular Chrome or other browsers will not work.

Make sure your Chromebook is fully updated before the exam.

Close all other apps and tabs before launching.

If your professor enables Respondus Monitor (webcam), check your camera/mic permissions before the test.
