Re-Mapping A Printer with Universal Print (Mac)

Summary

Instructions on how to remap a Mac to a Office printer

Body

1. From the desktop of your Macbook click the magnifying glass in the top right of your screen, then type in “Printers & Scanners” and hit enter on your keyboard or click on the icon.

2. From the list of added printers find the Universal Print enabled printers and click on the device. Only printers added via Universal Print are impacted. Universal Print devices can be identified through the printer’s name which gives the full building information and the universal print icon (a purple cloud with a blue printer).

3. After opening the device menu, click the “Remove Printer” button in the bottom left corner.

4. After the device has been removed select “Universal Print” menu from the settings tab on the left.

5. Once in the Universal Print menu click the “Add printer” button in the bottom right of the menu page.

6. In the “Add Printer” menu click the blue “Search by printer location” button to see a list of all the campus buildings with printer devices.

7. Next, select the desired building location and re-add the printers that were previously removed. To do this, click the gray box on the left of each printer name, you will see it become a blue checkbox. Then click the “Add” button in the bottom right of the menu.

8. The location menu will disappear, and you will see the printer(s) that you selected listed in the Universal Print menu. The process is complete.
