Adding and Removing Printers on a BSU-Issued macOS Computer

Note: The BSU IT Technology Division no longer services or maps any employee or staff personal devices to the office printers. Students should use the WEPA Print App (for Mac) to print in the labs from their personal devices.

 

To Add a BSU Printer on MacOS 13.3 or Newer

  1. Open System Settings
  2. In the left pane, scroll to the bottom
  3. Click on Universal Print

  1. Click on the Add printer... button

  1. Click on the Search by printer location link

  1. Scroll through the list at the top of the window to find your building
  2. Click on the name of the building where your printer is located to list printers

  1. Scroll through the list of printers at the bottom of the window
  2. Click on the box to the left of your printer name to select your printer
  3. Click the Add button

  1. Your printer will be listed on the main Universal Print window

 

To Remove a Printer

  1. Open System Settings
  2. In the left pane, scroll to the bottom
  3. Click on Universal Print
  4. Click on the printer you would like to remove in the main Universal Print window
  5. Click on "Remove printer" button

 

To Add a BSU Printer on Older Versions of MacOS

In order to add a BSU networked printer to your BSU-issued computer with these instructions, you must either be on-campus or connected to the BSU VPN.  To add a personal or non-BSU networked or Wi-Fi printer, please refer to Apple's instructions here.

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Select Printers & Scanners
  3. Select the + symbol as shown below to add a printer
  4. Refer to the list of printers that should appear to find your desired printer.  Printers are named by building and room number.  You will need the last section of the listed name when completing Step 6, below
  5. Click on the IP (Globe) icon
  6. Enter the following information:

Address: <your printer name>  i.e. SCI401P1

Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD

Queue: Leave blank

Name: You may change this field to your preference, or leave it as is

Use: Generic PostScript Printer

Then, click Add

To Remove a Printer

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Select Printers & Scanners
  3. Select the printer you'd like to remove from the list
  4. Select the - symbol and remove the printer
