Overview
Sponsored by the Honors Program & Center for Transformative Learning. Housed in Pope Hall.
Mission: The First-Year Honors LLC seeks to create a sense of belonging and community among honors students in their first year at BSU. Participating in the LLC allows you to live, study, eat, and socialize with like-minded peers committed to academic success, community engagement, service, leadership, and social and racial justice.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will form relationships with fellow honors students as well as Honors Program and Center for Transformative Learning faculty, staff, and administrators
- Students will be able to identify resources and opportunities on campus to advance their academic, professional, and personal success
- Students will enhance their interpersonal skills through participation in community-building activities
Optional Engagement
All first-year honors students are invited to participate in our Peer Mentoring Program. Interested students will be connected with an upper-level honors peer mentor at the beginning of the fall semester. Mentees will be paired with mentors based on academic and extracurricular interests as well as areas they’re looking to learn more about (e.g., student clubs and organizations, campus events, undergraduate research).
First-year honors students who participate in our Peer Mentoring Program will create invaluable relationships with their upper-level peers. Students will be invited via email to complete a form indicating their interest prior to the start of the fall semester.
First-year Honors students interested in becoming involved in the Honors community in other ways are encouraged to enroll in a 1-credit colloquium in the fall or spring semester.
