BLACKBOARD ALLY | FIX YOUR CONTENT DAY 2026

24 Hours. One Goal. More Accessible Course Content!

Tuesday, November 10, 2026

Join BSU faculty and educators around the world for a day dedicated to making digital course materials more accessible, one improvement at a time!

What Is Fix Your Content Day?

Fix Your Content Day is a worldwide accessibility initiative sponsored by Blackboard Ally. Colleges and universities around the globe are encouraged to spend 24 hours improving the accessibility of digital course materials.

At Bridgewater State University, the Teaching & Technology Center (TTC) invites faculty to participate by making improvements to their Blackboard courses. Whether you add alternative text to an image, improve the formatting of a document, remove outdated materials, or address issues identified by Blackboard Ally, every improvement helps create a more inclusive learning experience.

This year, we're encouraging BSU faculty to Get to Green! Blackboard Ally uses color-coded accessibility indicators to help you identify issues with your course materials and work toward a green accessibility score. The goal is progress, not perfection. Whether you have a few minutes or several hours, every improvement helps make course materials more accessible to students.

Three Ways to Participate

1. Take the 24-Hour Accessibility Challenge

When: Anytime on November 10
Where: Wherever you work best
Registration: Optional

Set aside a little time (or a lot!) to improve the accessibility of materials in one of your Blackboard courses.

Not sure where to begin? Blackboard Ally can help you identify content that needs attention and provide guidance for making improvements.

Choose a course, find something to improve, and get started! The resources below can help you along the way.

You don't need to register to participate independently, but we'd love to know you're joining the challenge! You can use our registration form to let us know you plan to participate on your own.

2. Attend Our Morning Webinar

Fix Your Content: Get to Green with Blackboard Ally

Time: 11:00 AM–12:00 PM Eastern Time
Location: Online via Zoom
Registration: Required

Join TTC staff for a one-hour webinar featuring practical guidance and live demonstrations to help you identify and address accessibility issues in your Blackboard courses.

Topics will include:

  • Understanding why accessibility matters and how it supports student learning.
  • Using the Blackboard Ally Course Accessibility Report to identify issues and track improvements.
  • Reviewing outdated, duplicated, or unnecessary course materials before making fixes.
  • Applying accessibility principles to improve documents and other course content.
  • Making practical improvements, including adding alternative text, using heading styles, and correcting or replacing inaccessible files.

The webinar will include demonstrations and time for questions. Participants are not expected to work on their course materials during this session.

3. Join Our Afternoon Hands-On Accessibility Lab

Fix Your Content: Hands-On Accessibility Lab

Time: 1:00–3:00 PM Eastern Time
Location: MKC 221 – CARS Conference Room
Registration: Required

Bring your laptop and some course materials you'd like to improve!

This informal, hands-on lab gives you time to work on your own Blackboard course materials with individualized assistance from TTC staff.

During the lab, you can:

  • Review your Blackboard Ally Course Accessibility Report and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prioritize accessibility issues and identify manageable starting points.
  • Review and clean up outdated or unnecessary course materials.
  • Improve documents, images, and other course content.
  • Get help from TTC staff as you work through accessibility issues.
  • Check your progress and identify next steps for continued improvement.

This is a flexible working session rather than a second presentation. You can focus on the content that's most relevant to your courses.

We recommend attending the morning webinar before the afternoon lab to become familiar with the tools and techniques we'll be using, but webinar attendance is not required.

Register for Blackboard Fix Your Content Day

Planning to attend the morning webinar, afternoon hands-on lab, or participate independently? We'd love to know you're joining us!

Complete our registration form and select all the ways you plan to participate. You can attend one or both TTC sessions, work independently, or combine these options.

Registration is required for the live TTC sessions and optional for independent participation. Zoom information will be shared with registered webinar participants.

Not Sure What to Fix? Start Here!

You don't have to overhaul an entire course. Choose a task that fits the time you have.

  • Have 5 minutes? Open your Ally Course Accessibility Report and identify one item to improve.
  • Have 10 minutes? Add alternative text to an image, improve the heading structure in a document, or identify outdated materials that are no longer needed.
  • Have 15–30 minutes? Review a Word document or PowerPoint presentation and correct accessibility issues.
  • Have more time? Work through several low-scoring files, review older course materials, or improve an existing syllabus or PDF.

These are suggested starting points. Some accessibility improvements may take longer depending on the content.
