Overview

Living Learning Communities Graduate Assistants (LLC GAs) positions assist with the implementation of and assessment of the LLCs. There are two LLC GA positions: one serving the Upper-Level LLCs, and on supporting the First-Year LLCs.

The LLC GAs supervise the LLC Programming Assistants (Student Employees). The LLC GAs work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Residence Life. 

Compensation

LLC GAs receive bi-weekly stipend for working twenty hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Students receive full tuition and academic fee remission for up to 24 credit hours per academic year during the fall, spring and summer sessions.  Additionally, a complimentary parking pass is provided. 

Duties Overview

LLC Gas participate in the ongoing hiring, training & development of the Programming Assistants, Resident Assistants and other paraprofessional staff assigned to the LLCs. LLC GAs directly supervise and evaluate the Program Assistants (PAs) that support the assigned LLCs. LLC GAs establish relationships with residents of the assigned LLCs to facilitate referrals to appropriate academic and administrative offices. Using the mission and goals of the LLC program, LLC GAs assist LLC staff members in developing programs to meet the academic and social needs of the student participants. LLC GAs also assist with developing displays, informational brochures, pamphlets and other written materials for recruitment purposes. LLC GAs are expected to attend all related supervisory, committee, and LLC meetings required.

Qualifications

Successful LLC GA candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be accepted in one of the University’s academic programs to be eligible to receive a graduate assistant position.  Preference will be given to students who have applied to and have been accepted into the Counselor Education – Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration program by the College of Graduate Studies application deadline. 

  2. Solid written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service orientation; ability to interact well with the diverse segments of the Bridgewater State University community.  

  3. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience supervising or working with college age students.  

  4. Preference will be given to candidates with previous event planning and promotion experience.   

  5. Strong organizational, programming, and interpersonal skills. 

  6. Must have an understanding of and be committed to student development.
