Microsoft Teams Recordings, Summaries, and Transcripts: How to set up and view
This KB article will provide step-by-step instructions for setting up and viewing meeting recordings, summaries, and transcripts held via Microsoft Teams.
- Once in the Teams meeting, locate and click on “More...” in the top menu bar. A drop down menu will appear.
- Hover over “Record and transcribe >”.
- Select “Start transcription” for transcription only. Select "Start recording" to get a video and audio recording in addition to transcripts.

- Select the recording and transcription settings you desire.

- You and all meeting participants will see a message pop up in the meeting space indicating that transcription has started.

A few minutes following the end of the meeting, Teams will send in the meeting room chat space a message to everyone that transcripts and/or recording, depending on your selection, are available.

Clicking “View recap” will open a new window in which you can view the recording, an AI summary, and Transcripts. Note: AI generated meeting summaries may contain errors. Always review for accuracy.

If at the start of the meeting, you selected only Transcription and not recording, then click the Transcript button to view them.

9. Depending on your settings and the meeting host, you may be able to Download the Transcript. Click on Manage then Download.
