Wired: Wired Internet Connection in the Residence Halls

Ethernet ports are INACTIVE by default in all residence halls.
Wired connections are available in the residence halls per request only.

Wired Internet Request Form: Wired Internet Request Form

  • Before submitting a wired internet request, check the Wireless Internet page to make sure your device is on the correct network. Being on the incorrect network may cause a poor user experience.
  • Need a wired connection for gaming? We highly encourage trying our BSU_Gadgets or BSU_GameConsoles wireless networks for gaming consoles first which are specifically designed for wireless gaming. BSU_GameConsoles has an open NAT type by default!
  • Service target for a wired activation is three (3) business days.
  • Requests submitted at the beginning of a semester may take up to seven (7) business days to complete.

Additional Information: Wired connections have a strict NAT type by default. Open NAT is available for gaming via an Open NAT Type Request. This request is typically required for gaming in a multi-player setting, party playing setting, game hosting, etc. Additional information about NAT types can be found on the ResNet website here: NAT Type Info - ResNet Website
