How to disable MAC Randomization

Overview

Many device manufacturers now use Private (Randomized) MAC Addresses when connecting to Wi-Fi networks. To avoid this inconvenience, you may wish to disable private MAC addresses for BSU Wi-Fi.

Follow the instructions below based on your device type:


Apple Devices

Mac (macOS Sequoia or later)

  1. Click the Apple Menu and choose System Settings

  2. Select Wi-Fi from the sidebar

  3. Click Details or More Info next to the network name

  4. Toggle Private Wi-Fi Address to Off

iPhone / iPad

  1. Open the Settings app

  2. Tap Wi-Fi

  3. Tap the ⓘ Info button next to the network

  4. Toggle Private Address to Off

Apple Watch

  1. Open the Settings app

  2. Tap Wi-Fi

  3. Select the network

  4. Toggle Private Address to Off


Android Devices

  1. Open the Settings app

  2. Tap Network & Internet

  3. Tap Wi-Fi

  4. Select the desired network

  5. Tap Advanced

  6. Tap Privacy

  7. Set it to Use device MAC or Disable Randomized MAC


Windows Devices

  1. Click the Start button

  2. Open Settings

  3. Go to Network & Internet > Wi-Fi

  4. Click Manage known networks

  5. Select the BSU Wi-Fi network

  6. Click Properties

  7. Toggle Use random hardware addresses to Off
