How to Find the MAC Address on Common Devices

A MAC address (Media Access Control address) is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on a network. This guide explains how to locate the MAC address on common devices, including computers, smartphones, game consoles, smart TVs, and streaming devices.


Smart Speakers & Assistants

Amazon Echo / Alexa

  1. Download and open the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or computer.

  2. Sign in with your Amazon account.

  3. Connect to the wireless network transmitted by your Echo device.

  4. The wireless MAC address can be found at the bottom of the Echo Setup screen in the Alexa app.


Streaming Devices

Amazon Fire TV / Fire Stick

  • First-time setup: During Wi-Fi setup, the MAC address appears at the far right of the wireless networks list.

  • Previously configured devices:
    Go to Settings > System > About > Network to find the wireless MAC address.

Apple TV

  1. Plug in your Apple TV.

  2. Begin setup and try connecting to BSU_Gadgets

  3. The wireless MAC address will display on-screen.

Roku

  1. From the Roku Home screen, go to Settings > Network -> About

  2. Find the addresses listed as:

    • Ethernet MAC Address (wired)

    • Wireless MAC Address (Wi-Fi)


Mobile Devices

Android (e.g., Pixel, Samsung, etc.)

Steps may vary slightly by manufacturer.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap About Phone/Tablet > Status.

  3. Find the Wi-Fi MAC address listed there.

Apple iPhone / iPad (iOS)

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap General > About.

  3. The Wi-Fi Address field displays your wireless MAC address.


Computers & Laptops

Windows (10/11)

  1. Open Command Prompt (search cmd in Start).

  2. Type:

    ipconfig /all

  3. Press Enter.

  4. Find Physical Address under:

    • Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi MAC address

    • Ethernet adapter Ethernet → Wired MAC address

Apple macOS

  1. Click the Apple menu  > System Preferences.

  2. Select Network.

  3. Choose your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and click Advanced.

  4. Go to the Hardware tab to see your MAC address.


Game Consoles

Microsoft Xbox 360

  1. Go to My Xbox > System Settings > Network Settings > Configure Network.

  2. Select Additional Settings > Alternate MAC Address.

  3. Both wired and wireless MAC addresses will be listed.

Microsoft Xbox One / Series X|S

  • During setup: Attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network and select Fix It after failure; the MAC addresses will display.

  • After setup:

    1. Go to Settings > Network > Advanced Settings.

    2. The Wired and Wireless MAC addresses are shown.

Sony PlayStation 3

  1. Navigate to Settings > System Settings > System Information.

  2. Both wired and wireless MAC addresses will appear.

Sony PlayStation 4 / PS5

  1. Go to Settings > System > System Information.

  2. Find:

    • MAC Address (LAN Cable) for wired

    • MAC Address (Wi-Fi) for wireless

Nintendo Wii

  1. Go to Wii Options > Wii Settings.

  2. Select Internet > Console Information.

  3. View MAC Address for wireless or LAN Adapter MAC Address for wired.

Nintendo Wii U

  1. From the main menu, go to System Settings > Internet > View MAC Address.

  2. The wired/wireless MAC address will be displayed.

Nintendo 3DS

  1. Go to System Settings > Internet Settings > Other Information.

  2. Tap Confirm MAC Address to view it.

Nintendo Switch

  1. From the Home menu, select System Settings > Internet.

  2. Your System MAC Address will appear on this screen.


Other Smart Devices

Smart TVs (general)

  • Samsung: Go to Settings > Support > About This TV.

  • LG: Settings > Network > Wi-Fi Connection > Advanced Settings.

  • Vizio: Menu > Network > Manual Setup.

  • Sony (Android TV): Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > Status.
