MFA: Why are we using Multi-Factor Authentication?

Cyber-criminals can guess your password, trick you into sharing it, or use a stolen password that has leaked on the internet. To prevent bad guys from accessing your account, you have to set-up another verification method to verify it is really you trying to access your account. Even if an attacker manages to learn your password, it is useless without also having possession of the additional authentication method such as your mobile device.
