Want to give your Blackboard Ultra course a bit more visual appeal? Try adding a banner and tile image specific to your course.
ADDING A COURSE TILE IMAGE:
To add a course tile image and optional banner to the course site, click into the "Course Image" settings on the left-side menu.
The Display Settings tool will pop-up and allow you to add a new image or alternatively delete a current image.
When adding an image to the course site, you can upload an existing image (PNG or JPG). You can also use Blackboard's built-in AI to prompt for a variety of image choices from Unsplash.
Once you have chosen an image, you can add an Alt-text description or mark it as a decorative item in order for screen-reading programs to properly access the content. While the course tile will automatically change to use the selected image, using the image as a course banner (placed at the top of the course site) is optional.
WORKING WITH BLACKBOARD ULTRA BANNER IMAGES
Blackboard Ultra uses a common image in its course banner and (optional) course card. Uploaded images must be at least 1200 pixels wide x 240 pixels tall (Blackboard recommends a sample image of 4800 x 960).
The final image used will be cropped to a 5:1 (width:height) aspect ratio. For images that are not already in a 5:1 aspect ratio, you will be given the option after uploading to zoom and scroll to select an area of the image in order to satisfy the aspect requirements.
When selecting the area of an image, the middle 1/3 of the course banner area will become the optional course card.
ANOTHER WAY TO CHANGE YOUR BANNER AND TILE IMAGE
You can also change the banner and tile image by selecting the 3 dot menu on your course within the Courses link (see image below).
