ALL USERS: Respondus Lockdown Browser and Respondus Monitor BSU License 2025

Bridgewater State University licenses LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor. These applications are used to deter cheating during online exams.

LockDown Browser prevents students from printing, copying, going to different URLs or accessing other applications during an online exam. It’s ideal for use in testing centers and proctored environments.

Respondus Monitor enhances LockDown Browser by using a student’s webcam to record the assessment session. This enables online exams to be taken in non-proctored environments and deters students from accessing other resources during an exam (such as a phone, a second computer, etc.). It also ensures the right student is taking the exam, and that the student isn’t getting help from others.

Respondus Monitor Student Fees: Students purchase their own subscription for Respondus Monitor, valid for 12 months for courses and exams taken in the LMS that use Respondus Monitor at their institution. The fee is $15 and is paid through the application the first time the student starts a practice quiz or test with LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor. Students can use a credit card, debit card, or a PayPal account. The student continues into the exam after payment is made; they will also receive an email confirmation. There is no per-test or per-hour fee; once the student has paid the fee for the first exam, they will not see the purchase screens again until 12 months have passed. The fee is only applicable for the use of the webcam feature (Respondus Monitor); not for exams that only require LockDown Browser.
