FACULTY: How do I get started with Padlet?

Padlet is an interactive online post-it board perfect for brainstorming sessions, discussions, group work, developing historical timelines, and more. It’s easy to use, visually dynamic, and can be embedded directly into your Blackboard course sites for student access.

If you're a faculty member or librarian interested in using Padlet, email the Teaching & Technology Center at ttc@bridgew.edu. Once your account is activated, follow these steps:

  1. Access Padlet:

How do I have my students post with their BSU accounts?

After creating your Padlet board, click the "Share" icon in the right-hand menu (looks like an arrow pointing right). Next, click "Change Privacy" and select "Org wide" as your privacy option.  Students cannot see or contribute to your Padlet board unless they first log in with their BSU credentials.

If you are using Blackboard, you can integrate your Padlet into your Blackboard course site so that students do not need to log in to post on your Padlet board.  To add a Padlet activity to your Blackboard course site, do the following:

  1. Sharing your Padlet

    • After creating your board, click the "Share" icon (arrow pointing right) in the right-hand menu.
    • Click "Change Privacy" and select "Org wide."
    • Students must log in with their BSU credentials to see or contribute to your Padlet board.
  2. Integrate Padlet with Blackboard Ultra:

    • Within your course content areas (e.g., “Course Content”), click the circled plus symbol ⊕ > Content Market > Padlet.
    • Select the Padlet board you wish to add.

  3. If you are not using Blackboard, when students access the link to your Padlet board, they should:
    • Enter their BSU credentials (email address and password).
    • Click Continue with Microsoft.
    • Click Log in and retry.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly integrate Padlet into your courses, providing an interactive and engaging experience for your students.
