Blackboard makes it easy to track your grades, submissions, and instructor feedback. Follow the steps below to find everything you need in one place.
Step 1: Go to the Gradebook
- Open your course in Blackboard Ultra.
- Click Gradebook from the top menu (just below the course name).
- You’ll see a list of graded items and your Current Grade (if your instructor has enabled it).

Step 2: Understand the Gradebook View
Each item in the Gradebook displays important information at a glance:
- Current Grade (at the top):
This shows your overall grade in the course so far. Click it to see which assignments and tests contribute to it. (Note: Some instructors may choose not to display an overall grade.)
- Individual Items:
For each graded item, you'll see:
- Due date
- Number of attempts
- Your grade (if posted)
- Feedback icon (if comments were provided)
- Status updates (e.g., submitted, missing, late)
Tip: After the due date passes, submission info appears in red.
Step 3: View Submission Details and Feedback
- Click on any item to open the Details & Information panel.
- See your current grade and how it was calculated.
- View the number of attempts and whether submissions were on time or late.
- See alerts if your next attempt will be marked late.
- Click your grade to open your submission.
Step 4: Open the Submission Panel
Once inside the submission panel, you can:
- View each of your attempts (if more than one is allowed)
- See inline feedback if your instructor annotated your uploaded file
- Expand the Feedback panel to read your instructor’s comments
- Review feedback per attempt (if multiple attempts have been graded)
- See a note if your instructor has overridden your final grade for the item
