Map Z Drive

Please note:  New users will not longer be provisioned a Z: drive after approximitely September 1, 2023.  OneDrive automatically syncs data from the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders on university owned PCs, and Desktop and Documents folders on university owned Macs.

Information Technology provides a dedicated network drive for each university employee to store work related documents.  This drive is mapped automatically (z:\ drive) each time you log on to a university owned PC and is only accessible by the owner while on-campus or connected to BSU's VPN.

Please note that images, audio, and video files can NOT be saved on the home drive.  Information Technology is responsible for backing up all data stored on the home drive on a nightly basis.  As an alternative, IT provides up to 5 TB of OneDrive storage (including image, audio, or video files) as part of your Microsoft Office 365 account.

If your Z drive is not appearing automatically, please follow these steps to manually map it to your BSU-issued computer:

For Windows Computers:

    1. Right click Computer

    2. Select Map Network Drive

    3. Select Z: Drive

    4. In Folder section enter: \\campus.bridgew.edu\dfs\HOME\YourUsername (your username is the part of your email address before the @; for example, j1doe)

    5. Select Finish

   6.  If you get a Windows Security Screen enter your username and password, select Remember my Credentials, and select OK.

For Mac Computers:

  6. On your next login; to connect to your network share double click the share alias (the drive that was just created) on your desktop and it will open up and automatically log in.
