Faculty and Staff have the ability to send faxes from their on-campus computers using Outlook.
The steps involved in sending a fax from the desktop are the same as composing an email message, but using a special "email" address.
To send a fax from Outlook:
- Open a new E-Mail message
- In the "To" field, address the fax as shown in the examples below that is most appropriate to your case
- In the subject line enter a one line description
- In the message box, enter the text for your fax
- Attach the file you are trying to send (supported formats are ASCII text files, EPSON FX80, Black and white TIFF, and MS Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents)
- The telephone number you use should be the fax number you are trying to send to. Below are some examples.
On-campus fax machine |
####@fax.bridgew.edu - where #### is the last four digits of the fax number |
Off-campus, local number |
##########@fax.bridgew.edu - where ########## is the full 10-digit local fax number |
Off-campus, long distance |
##########@fax.bridgew.edu - where ########## is the full 10-digit fax number |
Reminder: We encourage you to use email as your first choice when communicating. For hardcopy documents that are not on your hard drive, you will still need to use a standalone fax machine, or scan and save/convert the document to one of the above listed supported formats.
