STUDENT: Sharing Version History in a Google Doc

Sharing your Google Doc version history can help professors ensure that your writing is original. In order to hand in a Google Doc with the version history to your professor, follow these steps.

Important: Ensure you write the paper in Google Doc. If not, your professor will not be able to view the version history.

  1. Write your paper in Google Doc.
  2. Press the "Share" option in the top right.
  3. Enter your professor's email.
  4. Set their access to "Editor."
    • This permission allows your professor to view the document's version history.
  5. (Optional) Uncheck "Notify people" unless your professor asks to receive an email notification.
  6. Submit your Google Doc as required.
    • Do not convert it to a Word document or PDF if you want to keep the version history visible.
