Cannot open attachment in Outlook

If you can't open a link or download an attachment in Outlook, it might be due to ATP Safe Links still scanning it for viruses or malware. Links are usually scanned quickly, but larger attachments may take longer. If you see “ATP Scan In Progress” in your email, follow these steps:

  1. Keep Outlook open, but close the email
  2. Wait 5-10 minutes before reopening it
  3. Open the email again; if the message is gone, you should be able to download it

If ATP Safe Links detects something harmful in the attachment, it will notify you that it is unsafe. Do not open it, and please forward the email to itsupport@bridgew.edu for further investigation.
