FACULTY: ULTRA: How do I set up weighted overall grades in Gradebook?

When you first go into Gradebook, you will be prompted to set up the overall grade column. However, if you don’t initially do so, you can still set up the overall grade later.

The weighted overall grade calculates grade items as a percentage of a final grade worth 100%. You can assign percentage values to any course items and categories you prefer.

To set up a weighted grade total, follow these directions:

  1. Open your Blackboard course and go to your Gradebook
  2. On the right side, select the gear icon to go to your settings
  3. Scroll down and click Manage Overall Grade Settings
  4. Select “Weighted” as the calculation type
  5. Assign percentages as desired
  6. On the right hand side, set whether you would like students to see a points, percentage, or letter grade
  7. Click Save in the lower right corner
