STUDENT: ULTRA: How do I update browser settings to enable third party cookies in Blackboard?

Third-party browser cookies are necessary to launch third party applications from within the Blackboard Learning Management System. If you do not enabled third party cookies, you may receive an error message like the one below:

Safari Error Message when Cross-site tracking is not enabled

If you're having trouble viewing stream videos in your Blackboard course on Safari for Mac, it might be because of third-party cookies. You can use an alternate web browser like Chrome, otherwise follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings tab from Safari.

    Safari settings menu

  2. Go to Privacy Tab and Uncheck Prevent Cross-Site tracking.

    Safari Privacy Settings menu

  3. Refresh the page, and the content should be visible. You might be prompted to Login to your Microsoft account.

For iOS mobile devices, Safari and other apps have dedicated settings panels.

  1. Go into the main Settings panel on the device.
  2. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Scroll down to the app you are using and move the slider to allow cross-website tracking. The slider on some apps are "on" to allow tracking, while others when switched to the "on" prevent tracking. Pay close attention to the individual app wording.
